Hi Folks,

First off I would like to introduce myself...Name is James. I've been in the reefkeeping hobby for awhile now...but not until recently that I've posted. I check this site out quite often and do a lot of my reading and researching on here. THANKS!

Well my post is in regards to aquarium maintenance services. Recently I have been presented with a opportunity to move into what everyone in my area think I do best. I was wondering what service contracts/agreements are needed to help protect myself and the client. I've done much research on this via the internet...and I kind of have a feel for what is to be expected....But finding a sample seems hard (I guess it's not a suprise because this is probably proprietary infomation)..But any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
James.

Go get a contract drawn up by a lawyer, (ewwwwwwww!), couple hundred bucks go a long way for you.

there are about a dozen threads in this forum on the very subject

use the search function-try 'service' and limit it to this forum ;)

Better check into liability insurance too. People get ugly if water makes its way to the floor accidentally.

Better also look into incorporating or becoming an LLC - because if water makes its way onto the floor, and somebody sues, and insurance isn't keen on paying, or if they sue for more than your coverage - you'll not want them to sue you personally (sole proprietor) but rather, your "company" (S-Corp or LLC).

The contract is only the tip of the iceberg... in fact that's the easy part to put together (or at least it was for me, but I've been tweaking mine for about 5 years now because moron moves by customers have necessitated that...) - but the other part of the CYA equation can add up too.

Jenn
