Are these foam pads safe to use in your aquarium?

I need to lift my skimmer about 3 inches off the sump, and I have something like this laying around the apartment. I'm not sure if it's exactly the same material, but it looks like this:

I was looking to cut, and pile them on top of each other. Do any of you have experience with this and know if it's toxic?

Also, any other suggestions of how I can lift the skimmer up 3 inches? Thanks.

pvc cut four 3 in pieces and silicone them in place then rest the skimmer on top.
