I've never been out there, but have heard/read nothing but rave reviews for the place. Tell us what you've heard that's conflicting :)

Try SEARCH...there have been several threads, most of which contain photos of Atlantis.

Small, but worth the trip. They have several touch tanks/feed tanks, a sea lion show, the 20,000 gallon reef (which is awesome.. I've killed 30 minutes there alone) and the shark tank is pretty cool. If you reserve it ahead of time you can "dive" in the shark tank. They lower you and up to 3 others in a cage into the tank. The Aquarium supplies all of the gear, but you can bring your own mask and suit if you want. Costs $150.

Considering the ride isn't that bad from where you are... it is very much worth the day trip.

We have been countless times and it is an all time family favorite. It is not huge but there is plenty to see. Especially when you are interested in the hobby.

Personally I liked it better than the NY Aquarium by Coney Island. But that is just me. It is much smaller in comparison but I felt the displays were better done. Though we haven't been to the other in several years.

Don't forget the penguins! Usually after I'm spent from eyeballing the fish and petting the stingrays, I veg out with the penguins for hours. Their ice cream is good.

My girl always messes with me. She says I flirt too much with the girls that work there. I can't help it :inlove:

I've never seen the sea lions. I always miss the show :(

Joe Burger is a great guy.

As explained before small but every exhibit is impressive especially the 20,000 gallon reef tank. You will definitely leave there wishing you had the money, space and time for such a tank.

Joe Burger is a great guy.

Joe Burger is a great guy.. .. but he can only dream of running this aquarium :tongue1: You have wrong Joe here... its Joe Yaiullo who is the co-founder and curator of the aquarium. As long as you don't call him Joe Burger he may even give you a personal behind the scene tour of the aquarium.

The 20,000 reef tank display there is the best in the world, and I have seen my share of reef displays in public aquariums. Well worth the trip even for non aquarists.

sanjay.
