ATO question

Is there a way to have my ato pump higher then my sump? So I currently have my 65 gallon ato tank on top of my 65 gallon salt mix tank and my sump sits on the floor. When the pump shuts off because it reaches the height I have it set for in the return section the ro water keeps coming out. Is there a way I can keep this setup the way it is and have it function properly? maybe make a whole somewhere or something? If i'm not explaining it right I will try to post pics when I get home..

A check valve. Your just getting a siphon. Also a siphon-break hole on that hose above your water line may be another way that might work for you.

A check valve wouldn't work cause the water is not getting siphoned back in the ato tank. Because the pump and tank is higher then the sump, once ths pump shuts it still flows out.

+1 this is your safest bet. The siphon break hole might piss water while pumping into your sump. A check valve isn't gonna work. The water has to go that way to top off your sump. A check valve only stops a reverse siphon

Ahh got it. I guess either peristaltic pump or the siphone break which would piss water..or move things around

Depending on the height of your DT and the height of your ATO tank, if the DT is higher, you can run the ATO hose into the overflow of the DT.

Problem Solved

So after alot of thought and some advice here is what i came up with: I ran a 3/4" pvc (still got a ton left over, lol) from the sump up past the ato tank, then put the tube in the pvc which is past the hight of the ato tank.

That works... or teeing off the line, 1 side of the tee to your sump and other side above the height of your ATO reservoir.

I had and still have kind of the same setup. My ATO holding tank is 3 feet higher then my sump.. I ended up going with a BRS Peristaltic pump 50ml/hr and it gives me piece of mind

You may want to move your junction boxes a little higher. Just in case.
