I was offered a great deal on a Radion 2 Gen Light. I have some questions?

Is this light too much for a 34 Gallon Solana.
I was told you don't need a Controller with these lights.
How high do i have to mount from water level.

No, since you can run it at any intensity that you wish.
You don't need controller. You can program with your computer.
I have mine 12" over a 30 gallon shallow cube.

You can make ur own program or use one of there's. I'm lazy so I just used there's and uploaded it to the light.

Great lights, I have 2 Radion Pros over my 80 shallow tank. Super bright, lots of combinations and you can adjust your intensities, can't go wrong with them IMO.
