Hi there,
I am just starting my first marine aquarium. Had some freshwater for a few years but I was always craving for a salt water one. Just starting. Going to introduce 40kg of live rock from Indo next week. As you will see, my aspirations are more of a fish tank rather than corals, but I do intend to have soft ones. Guess that makes me a future reefkeeper, ah?
Compared to some tanks I've seen in this site, mine will be a modest one in terms of equipent.
Tank specs:
Custom made 48x20x22 inches tank. Holds about 100 galons (including 32x16x14 inches sump, also custom). The tank comes pre-drilled with overflow.
1 aquamedic turboflotor multi st skimmer + aquamedic pump. already bought, no yet installed.
1 Eheim 1060 pump
3 power heads are going to be bought for water circulation
2x54w T5 flourescent aquamedic lights one white, one blue, pendant.
1 jaeger 300w heater
35kg of very thin crushed coral for substract set in filter plates
Filtration:
The sump contains:
2 filter sponges
dead coral
aragonite
siporex
The overflow contains bio-balls.
As you can see, it is still a baby. As soon as the 40kg of live rock arrive, I'm going to start aquascaping with some 30kg of dead once alive rock that a friend gave me. You can already see some of it in the tank.
I am not totally sure of the fish I'm going to have, but here are some I wish I can have:
- Amphiprion ocellaris
- Zebrasoma flavescens
- Synchiropus splendidus
- Forcipiger flavissimus
- Acanthurus leucosternon
Inverts:
- Lysmata amboinensis
- Linckia laevigata
Just a wish list of a newbie. I still don't know wich soft corals I'm going to have, but a friend in the pet store is helping.
I'm still getting help with all the new info I'm studying everyday. Too much of it!!
I'll post more pics as soon as there are new developments.
