Installing a chiller with a Rio 1700@642gph and adding a UV at the end.Should I put the ball valve on the pump side or the outlet side? The UV will not be on often but every other day or so for a few hours.
Never put a ball valve on the discharge side of a non pressure rated piece of equipment. If you do, you'll create pressure inside the appliance that the seams and joints weren't meant to handle.
Exactly the same as Two Little Fishies Phosban Reactors. They even state in their instructions that the included ball valve should be on the inlet of the reactor, not the discharge side.
Just a safer way to do it, even if your UV is pressure rated.
