battery backup electric usage query

How much electricity does a battery backup use when on standby? Does it use it's full rating or a percentage of it? Let's say that a battery backup is rated at 700 Watts, does this mean that it is constantly consuming 700 Watts in prep for a power outage, or will it use a smallr number like 30W as a trickle charge?

All I know is the one that Icecap makes comes with a trickle charger to keep it fully charged. Would assume others would be the same?

I am not sure what you are trying to find out.

If there are NOTHING plugged into the UPS and the battery is charged, the UPS should not use more than a few watts in the charging\monitoring circuit.

If you have few things plugged into the UPS, the killawatt would read the sum of all watts being consumed, plus the same few watts used in the monitoring circuit.
