Hello Everyone,

Was wondering what is better for getting Coloration from Acros ETC. I have 2 x 250 HQI M/H now I have Ushio 10000k bulb's and I have XDE 20000k Bulbs which one of these would be best for a my SPS Corals. :D

Thanks,

Darrell

me thinks you will get dissention among the reefers with this query.

my unsubstantiated opinion is as follows..

20k will make most corals appear to be less brown and more 'colorful'.
this does not mean they are healthier and in fact it may mean the opposite.
i have played a little with spectrum now and can say through my experience that the whiter light tends to yield higher calcification rates.

now.... it could be that the intensity of the light is less in the bluer bulbs thus a decline in calcification and a drop in zooxanthellae production which causes less brown coloration. i really don't know.

IMO it comes down to what YOU think looks best, It's about personnel taste in color, everyone will give you their opinion on different mixtures of light sources. Bottom line is what do you like the best.

I have yet to see anyone disagree on radiums being the best for acro color.

I ran them, dont anymore, they really suck for growth.
