I just brought some use bleach coral that was in another persons sump. I wanted to know how thorough I would need in order to user it in my soft coral reef tank. Just as a building foundation to put my corals on. I currently have a 45 gallon with I think 45 lbs of live rock and a very thin layer of live sand. Would i need to recure this bleached coral? Or just clean it off and put it in.

If this is just coral skeleton that was bleached...using bleach...to clean it so as to make it "presentable" in appearance, and nothing else...no chemicals or coatings of any kind...was put on it then it's safe to put in your tank...I'd soak it in water for 24-hrs and then completely flush it with a hose just to be completely safe, but that's just out of complete caution. After that, it'd be fine to put in you tank.

yea i dont think they were actually bleached bleached- They were just dead coral basicallly. But i will try your idea and let them soak for 24hrs and completely flush them with a hose to be safe. I put some small pieces into my frag tank that i cleaned with boiling water. A quick rinse through. I check parameters and everything is ok.

Just wanted to make sure i took proper precaution before throwing them in and start building with them.

thanks.
