Just wondering if anyone on MR has any experience with bows. I am interested in pursuing this hobby and would like some feedback and advice. Thanks in advance.

i would look for used, might end up being something your dont like after a little while and easy to spend small fortune on a nice set, id suggest going to a shop and get a feel for different bows and pull poundage to see what feels comfortable and strong enough to consistantly pull

I used to be in to archery when I was younger. I still have two compund bows but have not used them in years. Target shooting is fun to do but you will go through alot of arrows learning so dont get expensive ones at first. Are you looking at recurves or compound bows?

I like the look of the recurve but I am thinking about going old school with the wooden longbow

there are several clubs within the 5 boroughs. Or you can shoot for free at floyd bennett field, Brooklyn and willowbrook park, Staten island.

As stated before you have to know what kind of bow you are interested in, since each bow has its different requirements. I have shot both recurved and compound, but at present I own compound, and enjoy it. If you need any help, pm me.

by the way, like this hobby,Archery can also be expensive. so you might want to test before you buy.
