I got a branching montipora frag last weekend. It looks like it is doing well except there is a small spot on it from which green hair algae is growing. The spot is approx 1/4" diameter. My first question is, what should I do about it? Nothing? Take it out and remove the algae? Second, is the algae a symptom of some sort of coral disease?
I do have a minor breakout of algae in my tank right now although the other corals appear to be doing well. Thanks in advance.

You need to pull it off and clean the area and solve your hair algae problem. You probably have phosphates present which will hurt your corals and the hair algae if given the chance will overgrow your corals and choke them out. Remedy it before it becomes a big problem and you can save your corals.
