I have a bristle worm that I found in my tank yesterday that is HUGE. It's grey with maroom dots going along the sides. It's got the bristles, but I've only seen the pink ones before never this color.

Is it safe?

That think is about 3/8 width and I couldn't tell you how long b/c half it's body was still in the rock with the other 8 inches appearing.

That's Hermodice carunculata which is the truly bad guy that gives other bristleworms a bad rep. It's a coral eater and predator; if there's no live food around it will scavenge & eat detritus.
