Just bought a nice piece of live rock that was filled with life. Unfortunately it has approximately 6 bristle worms from 1 to 2 inches in lenght. What is the best way to get rid of these pests.
I would take them also. They are great for cleaning up and scaveging. If you are dead set on getting rid of them, place a piece of shrimp in the foot of a pair of pantyhose and place this near the rock. The worms will try to get the food and will get caught in the mesh.
braincoral, i think that in the past they were considered to be bad. current thinking is that you want them. do a search on them you'll see that they are a great addition to your clean up crew.
Small ones are no problem, but they can grow quite larg. This is when they become a problem. some breeds are know to have a very painful sting also. Arrow crabs are very good at getting rid of them. I used an arrow crab to get rid of them in my 125 gl reef, and then removed the crab when he was finished.
