i was just curious, is buying different fish from a food store like a&p or shop rite any more or equal in healthly benifits then just your basic frozen foods at a lfs? i usually just buy about 10-15 different types of frozen foods and chop and mix them all up with vitamins and refreeze them. it usually lasts me for a month or so, but im constantly spending around 60-70 bucks total in the food. starting to hurt the bank because im due for some more food... but, i also do buy raw shrimp from a&p and chop that up too and notice my fish eat that way before they touch my mysis, brine, plankton, or anything else i use. if i start to try new things like clams, mussles, raw shrimp, or anything else on ice at the food store, is that any better in terms then just frozen food? i know it would be alot cheaper because i can buy 5-8 raw srimp for a dollar and lasts much longer.
im really big with varity when it comes to feeding, and thought id take a trip tonight to the a&p and pick up some new things, but if its either not healthy or not any better then just my basic fish food then i might cancel my trip. also, is there anything bad that you could buy or unhealthy? like is precooked fish/inverts not good? i have tried awhile back some type of small fish they had, and cut it up and my fish, mainly my triggers, went crazy for it! but then i wondered afterwords if that was not safe cause its raw or just a random fish? another night we bought some lobsters and had a nice dinner one night, but one of the lobsters before looked kinda wierd. it was really small and just did not seem like it would have alot of meat for us to eat. so we decided not to cook it. so i put it in fresh water and killed it, then i cracked it open and took some raw meat, cleaned it real good in some RO water and fed it to my fish and they loved it as well. i dont know i want to just check... and finally is there anything you reccomend that is good at a food shop?
