So, I'm looking for a Deltec MC500 on ebay and there's hardly EVER anything. Then I look on the UK ebay and there's TONS of Deltec stuff. I assume the only issues withy buying a UK mod would be the power conversion? Can't I just buy an adapter for the power issue? There's so much Deltec stuff I still believe it would be cheaper even WITH shipping than buying it here.

I'm guessing the only issue would be getting a transformer (I don't think a simple adapter would do, unless Deltec skimmers are set up like certain laptops/other mobile electrical goods, with the ability to run on either 110W or 240W). Transformers can be quite pricey though. I bought a few while I was in Japan to power the stuff I'd brought with me from the UK. Look into what the wattage is. The higher the wattage the larger, the heavier and pricier. I shouldn't think a skimmer pulls as much as lights would though, so it might still be a good move, price-wise, even if you end up having to buy a small transformer.

one of the problems with uk-us power conversion is the cycles (HZ) The US is 60Hz (60 cycles per second) and the UK is 50Hz. You'll burn out the pump without the correct matching transformer.

Also, I'm not a big fan of my mce500. I'm probably going with either an octopus or possibly a GEO that's coming out soon.

And sorry, someone has already called dibs on the skimmer when I get rid of it.

The octopus is a nice skimmer, but I don't see how it could be better than the Deltec. I have the 150 recirc.. and its nice, but not AWESOME.... like I would want :)
