I bought my present tank as a complete, up and running setup. Although I have had several running systems through the years, I had been out of the hobby for a few years and felt a little rusty, and so I pretty much did whatever the seller told me he had been doing.
I noticed that snails and hermits all died shortly after being introduced.
After listening to one of the speakers at the swap say not to dose any additives without knowing and being able to test for the ingredients, I stopped adding this product:
Over time, I've noticed more hermits and snails staying alive. Read the bottle more carefully:
Copper! Is it possible that this is what was killing my clean up crew?
Everything seems to be doing better since I stopped adding it with routine water changes, so hopefully the concentration is low enough that it's not in my rock and substrate (assuming that was the problem).
