Acan echinata should NOT be placed next to Acan Lorowensis (lords) - they will have a war.
Lords can be placed next to lords with no issue.

I will try and grab some info later on other corals that don't get along with each other - perhaps we can get a Sticky going with this info

you can put them side by side, they can literally touch, but you have to give it room to grow. There are different types of acans that falls under different scientific name, most of the ones that people have now a days are lordhowensis because they are more puffy, you can put any lordhowensis next to each other and it'll be alright.

How can you tell the difference between a lord and an ech? I know I have one lord colony already, but i just purchased another acan colony and i'm not sure what type it is.

I don't want to start World War III :tank::skull::smash::eat:

A member here once told me that you can tell a lord from an encinata because it kinda looks like a pizza - slice wise that is :)

Just found this pic during my research for you.. lord (on top) vs enchinata

I'm not sure about that pizza statement, but from my experience, lords have clear lines marking where one head ends and another head begins. Enchinata's have the walls fused together so its hard to tell, especially when fragging where exactly to cut.

Cool war pic btw, and the Enchinata typically wins the war from my experience as well

Thats funny because my Ench and lord are closer together than that and no problems. The enchianta type is not as fleshy as a lord. They look more like a favia than a lord acan. Also I have GSP growing aginst my enchiata and no harm so far. Post pics that would help also

Great idea Kathy! This would benefit newbies as well as seasoned veterans.
I've had a acan enchinata take out half a chalice frag and another acan enchinata take out a tuxedo urchin.
