Can direct sunlight be used for coral?

I was wondering if putting an aquarium in front of a window that gets some sunlight would be more beneficial than using only artificial lighting, except for cloudy days, of course.

I mean, if my water's good, with 0 nitrates 0phosphates, then wouldn't that be a better way of lighting?

wow...I always figured all the sunlight would do would increase algea growth, and nothing beneficial......I guess im leaving my blinds open from now on.....

Why not. If you keep the water level nutrients right, algae control correct and temperature control in place, extra light is extra light=>good.

I have a chiller, my apt is very hot generally(its 77 degrees in the winter, I cant deal sometimes) and I only get about 3 hours of solid/direct sunlight(dang manhattan buildings).
