for those who don't know my set-up:

it is a 55 gallon reef with a large sail fin tang, a small hippo tang, a forever old damsel, and 2 convict blennies. a few corals, button polyps, mushrooms, cabbage leather, a LARGE leather, white star polyps, and a christmas tree coral.

can i put a coral beauty in the tank? i really like the way they look. my dad had one. (i found it perfectly dried behind the tank when i moved it)

angels are hit and miss with being reef safe. some have beautys in there with success, and some dont. ITs kindofa coin toss to chance if you ask me.

It's very unlikely to bother those specific corals. They are most prone to picking on stony corals, particularly the large polyped fleshy ones. YMMV.

Having said that, your tank sounds a little crowded already with the two tangs.

I think the tank will be very crowded when the convict blennys grow to about one and a half feet.

It's a goby, not a blenny. :P

I used to have a trio of them, all 18"+ long. You could take them out of the tank and pet them. :) Here's a terrible pic :

Yup. www.fishbase.org lists the max size as 13" too. You guys would make great fishermen. ;)

Matt, I could actually take mine out of the water and hold them (they went limp and didn't thrash), so I actually measured them.

16", 16" and 18" were the sizes.

I guess I should've kept them, eh?

Peace,

Chip :)

Oh, only 13" well then get 2 or 3 more for the 55 gallon.

Yeah!

It's entirely possible they get larger in captivity, too......

Did you eat them instead? Battered, fried, and slapped in a hoagie . . .

No, traded them in and re-did the 110 gallon they were in. They ended up being sold to a restaurant for their display tank. Don't know what happened to them after that. :)

Peace,

Chip
