carbon filtration

if been running a bio wheel type filter in my sump filled with carbon to help with water clarity(no clarity issues just wanted it a bit clearer) but i have recently heard that carbon will remove benifical trace elements from the water ...just wondering if i shoould stop with the carbon filtration or if its not a issue. thx

If you overuse AC it can strip out some things from the water, but a HOB filter isn't going to have enough water flow through it to do that in a good sized (not nano sized) tank. Of course I should qualify that and ask how big is your tank? Also doing regular water changes would diminish that possiblity.

My only issue with it is that the AC used in those HOB filters isn't very high quality, and can leach phosphates back into your water (can fuel algae).

is a 54 gal corner and the hob is very low flow
