Thought I'd post these pics of my Caulastrea (Candy Cane) reproducing itself through a neat budding process. Each new 'dripped' frag has it's own piece of skeleton which is holding it down nicely, but the mother colony has some skeleton exposed which is worrysome.

It'll be interesting to see them develop.

dude, that rocks!

it looks like it just melted!

Feed it some meaty foods and the skeleton will cover up nicely in a few weeks. Or the head will completely die off, but the colony should be fine.

Looks good, I had a pavona reproduce this way before, where it dripped down a few pieces of tissue. Thats always cool to watch it happen in your tank.

This coral usually eats very well but once it started this process, it quit eating. Hopefully it'll start back now. I've got three buds now, all coloring nicely. We'll see what happens.

I'll post progress shots.
