I set small aquarium and installed eheim filter where you can have algae growing
Back then my nitrates were 40/60. Now they are about 3/4. I also added
a small phosban bag. Chaeto started to sort of melt and fall apart.
In my big aquarium Chaeto is growing like crazy I supplement iron and have Halogen spot light.
I don?t know why in eheim filter algae is falling apart can it be lock of iron , phosban or not enough nitrate to eat or light?
Any ideas?
thanks

If your chaeto is in the tank to reduce nutrients, then the fact it's dying is a good sign. It's exhausted the nutrients in the tank and dying back. Remove the die-off and the living chaeto will grow again once the clump is small enough to not suck all the nutrients out of the water. Rinse/repeat.

cheatos need lighting n good water flow to survive. if your cheatos r falling apart, get rid of it or it'll b defeating the purpose of it being there in the 1st place. even though cheatos r super hardy, they do have some basic requirements.
