Going to start off by stating I have a 14 gallon biocube.

I went to a local fishstore to pick a few things up and I got into a conversation with one of the managers regarding chemipure elite. He told me its bad because it eliminates all the trace elements. It was news to me. He then went on to tell me on the stores nano tank they have on display is strictly running purigen. I would like to see what other members think about this.

I think you should do a search on google and see what other people are saying.

Some people could just be making stuff up to sell you what they have in stock. It's not the first time. But I'd be cautious.

i use chemipure elite and swear by it... as long as you do your water changes it not going to suck out your trace elements.... just my opinion.... and all my stonies look awesome and i still have very good polyp extension so it cant be draing too much of the trace out

Im not sure if it does, but I had a complete depletion of Iodine in my tank, and ran chempure elite in a reactor before it. There were other possible culprits, but thisw could very well be the case

This is news to me. I change it every month and change 5 gallons of water every 2 weeks. No problems here. I should say I have also been using chemipure elite since it came out and before that I used chemipure exclusively.

Ive heard of this product called bulk carbon ROX from bulk reef supply. I have never used it only chemipure for me but, It is supposed to be better and purer with less dust than chemipure. It also seems to be less expensive too. I woould like for someone to chime in on this one so i can get feedback if i should order a larger amount for my tank.

The debate on carbon and exactly how much for how long. I personally like to keep some carbon in at all times, everyone has their reasons. To say that it sucks out the trace elements completely is just wrong especially since I seriously doubt they were testing for all the trace elements in the first place. If you are ever in doubt ask for evidence of their claims or where they are getting their information from. If they can't support it with a legitimate source than they are just talking out of the wrong end...

I was just curious because I put in all my supplements accordingly but my zoas arent really growing at all. I thought maybe the carbon was depleting all the trace elements. I guess I have to be even more patient...
