Clams from jones beach

Went to the beach today and collected several live clams, can we put these in our display tanks without any concerns?

I believe those are cold water clams and won't live in our reef tanks.. Plus the risk of them having parasites that may affect our tanks isn't worth it if you ask me...

When I buy clams or oysters to eat the the smaller one I always put some in my sump or tank they live long in the tank and help clean the water.

What kind of clam? Chances are, if they were colected on the ocean side of the beach, that, aside from cooler temperature, they would also need a lot of surf-like agitation. Clams like these need specialized conditions.

As above. Will die and spike your tank.

I wouldn't put them in your tank. If they die, and they probably will, it will spike your water big time!

If the clams end up dying... more than anything else, you will see any clean up crew eating at it before it really does any damage to water quality.
