Coralcruze, that is correct, but remember virtually all of the creatures we keep in our tanks came from the ocean, not just clams. Some of my fish are 24 years old and they are in mostly ASW. I do use some NSW but have not added any since last summer. My tank is probably less than 5% NSW. I wish it were 100% but it is heavy and gets heavier every year.
I think my tank is conventional, it was just set up before any one elses tank so it is different. But it used to be conventional, then someone invented the internet and changed everything so now, my tank doesn't look conventional any longer. The truth is that my tank is the only conventional tank and every one elses is just new.
