So, I've had a AquaC Remora skimmer for quite a while now and have only cleaned the collection cup which includes a short tube that goes down into the skimmer. Should I be cleaning the rest of the thing or am I good?

Thanks,
Mike

I've had my remora for a few years. The only thing to clean is the riser tube, the tube that connects the cup to the neck of the skimmer, and the injection area. Just take out the little plastic screw and clean it with the brush provided.

other than that its pretty much maintenance free.

Would my lack of cleaning result in less "quality" skimate? It as been really wet for some time even after adjusting the cup to nearly it's highest level.

your Remora will always produce wet skim. This is a good thing. Don't be concerned this is just the way these things seem to function, and they are rated one of the highest quality skimmers around for the buck and size.
And yes, if the lift gets coated in gunk the friction alone will keep skim from reaching the top of the tube and being removed. Keep it nice clean and slick. Also, clean your injector about once a month. It will help a LOT!
