i posted this in gerneral as well, just looking what i should do

hi everybody, i have 5 cleaner shrimp, 2 I had for over a year and 3 new ones that are considerably smaller, the bigger ones chase the other ones. now i noticed that the one larger cleaner shrimp has a sack full of eggs in its underbelly. it is almost double the size of the other larger one and it is fanning them.
OK, what do I do? leave them be where they are? take out both of the larger ones? take out just the pregnant one?
not sure what i should be doing here. I have a tank full of things that would eat baby cleaners i think. fish and crabs and other stuff.

anybody know what I should do? where are you lawdog? I need some help pronto!

thanks!

Leave it in the tank. They are hermaphroditic and will breed back and forth between themselves. Which is a good food source for the tank by the way.

As far as taking the preggers one out and trying to raise the fry, it has been done, but is very hard and you have to be setup to do so. You'd have to have a tank ready, and raise a live food source of the appropriate size for the younglings.

damn, just can't set up a tank and try? don't get it, why can't I do it?

i raised wolf fish in fresh water and people told me they couldn't believe they spawned, i had about 300 and at the end i had 4 that grew to adults

could i do the same here?

hmmm it could be a project

O'kay . . . outta curiosity . . . what happened with the shrimp?

Looking closely today, two of my five skunk cleaner shrimp have eggs on their bellies. I figure the larvae will be food for the corals and shrimp (all that is in the tank now are shrimp, corals, anemones, snails, hermit crabs and feather dusters). I figure the filter feeders will greatly enjoy the treat.
