hey i notice my shrimp crabs and lobster are non existent for a day or two at a time, most likely it is molting and they seek a place to be safe for a day or two until the shell hardens. he'll be back around in a day or so.
atleast we hope anyway!!!
no problems with the livestock

No probs with any livestoc which include hermit crabs, snails, cowry, blue tang, sebae clown, 4 zoanthid polyps, and assorted baby feather dusters. I may have some sea squirts or sponge starting. water params are all 0's ph at 8.3 and salinity at 1.021

"I ain't got nobody, i ain't got no shell" If he is hiding he is darn good at it. I hope you are all correct and he will make a new appearance in a brand new outfit...

Hi Guys,

Sorry for the jump in and no intention of hijack this thread. I'm new to this hobby and hope you guys can answer my question.

Speaking of cleaner shrimp molting. Do they show black spots in the head area before they started to molt? In other words, is black spots the sign of beginning of molting process?

Thanks

i'm not sure about black spots. i have 3 cleaners and i have never seen anything unusual before they lose their exoskeleton. mine are not hidden for too long though. if the molting has happened, i believe you should see an empty shell somewhere. hmm :?

Maybe this could be the shrimp showing stress due to poor water quality?
