My coil denitrator has been running well over two months now and is reducing nitrate by at least 90%! The only problem is it is still creating nitrite at a very high level?! So the effluent from the device is drained into a nitrifying bio filter. So logically for all the nitrate it removes, all of the nitrite in effluent is turned right back into nitrate?? BTW it is simply a one hundred foot length of coil ending in a media container and then emPtying into the bio filter. I don't dose any carbon source or usE bio pellets. I do use some activated carbon occasionally.
Any ideas about the nitrite? Also it takes about 12-15 minutes to flow through the device and I have tried a little bit slower and faster but not by much. Thanks!
