About 4 years ago the school I was attending in Israel took us on a trip to the dead sea. I think the dead sea is the lowest point (below sea level) in the world. It also has such a large salt to water ratio that you float regardless of the depth of water. I'm not kidding. . . it's a really cool experience.
Anyways, we had some beer and if you've ever been to Israel you know how insanely hot it gets! So, one of my buddies filled a bottle of dead sea water and we added some salt crystals from the bank, cut the top off the bottle and put it in the freezer for a few minutes. I think the saltwater had such a high concentration of salt that it didn't freeze. Or, I'm not remembering as the actual events happened because I drank a bunch of warm beer. But, what I thought happened was the water (that wouldn't freeze) because of the salt concentration would turn anything placed in it (in my case beer) very cold in a matter of minutes.
Have any of you tried/heard of this before? Do you know at what point the water is too concentrated with salt to freeze?
I'm just trying to find a use to old tank water.
