Concrete blocks and stone for gardening

Hi folks
I am going to try my hand at gardening again. I want to build a few raised beds and wanted to try doing it out of concrete blocks.

I've seen many of these on the internet. Years ago I did raised beds with wood. That worked out fine, but I believe concrete 8x12 pieces would be cheaper and could work well (see Jon Hughes concrete raised bed gardens on YouTube).

Other than home depot and lowes, any one have many extra concrete peices?
I would try nicer stone if that wasn't expensive. I'm looking for under 1.25$ per peice. I will be making my drawings this week so I can estimate how many peices I need.

fyi-the bricks and stones at Home Depot and Lowes are more expensive than the private places. I got the larger belgium blocks for the same price as the smaller ones HD had. $4. AND if you're lucky you might find a project somebody else turned in for credit or trash and bricks don't go bad so you'll get them cheaper

+1 definitely try craigslist first. Probably fine someone looking to clean up there place and will give it away.
