You should be okay on one DC8, but it is pushing it. I have my heating and pumps on one DC8 and the lights on another.
Well, the lighting is the problem. With three 400 watt MH and 440W actinics (maybe only 220W) I'm up to 14 amps (12A with only 2 actinics).

Ya. Those really should be on its own DC8 (or High Current DC4). 400W halides actually run closer to 4.5A, and they exceed 5A at start up.

Well, it looks like I'd have to go with a second DC8, then. The DC8 is only $15 more than the heavy duty DC4. So, that would bring my AC Jr. package to $465.

X10s are about $10 per module (each module controls one thing). They aren't as reliable since the relays travel through your house wiring (where lots of interference can occur), and they are also noisy; X10s physically click on and off. The noise isn't a big deal for lights since lights only turn on and off twice a day. For wavemaking pumps, however, the noise is annoying.
