Hi,
My name is Rachel, and I am doing a science research project about coral bleaching and the relationship between temperature and coral. I was wondering if anyone would be willing to sell or donate a small coral tank to me for this project so that I could continue my research.

A copy of my proposal can be found here, please remove the spaces from the URL between the http.

If you have any questions, or are willing to help, please let me know.

Rachel

Can you explain a little more in depth of the time frame that you are working with.. as I am curious to know how you are willing to accomplish your research project on a new tank. This would be a determining factor as coral bleaching on SPS, as any SPS would be hindered as it is an almost immediate death with new tank syndrome.

There is more to consider then obtaining a tank. Coral bleaching in our tanks can easily be caused, the real research should be done in the ocean. That where all the data sits...

For research on this issue you can search Manhattan Reefs and Reefs for information. There is no need to recreate this on your own hurting or killing a living thing.

Thanks for your replies!
What I really want to do is study the symbiotic zooxanthellae as well as the coral bleaching but I am hoping that I can collect the symbiotic organisms after they have been dispelled, and then put them under digress using UV light, temperature change, pH change, etc.

I want to have the project completed by the beginning of December and that is why I am posting here is because I won't have enough time to start a tank, and not have the coral be affect because of "new tank syndrome" I was hoping someone would be willing to donate a small tank, or offer any information about the project.

I don't live near the ocean, so I don't really have that option! But hopefully in the future that is what I'll actually be able to do!

They are websites.

One of them is the one that you are posting in and the other is the sister site to it.

:sigh:
