Coralife ballasts?

I bought one of those dual 250W HQI aqualight pro fixtures 3 years ago and am now going to build a canopy and use Lumenarc III Mini reflectors in it. The question is, what are the coralife ballasts that come with that fixture? All they say on them is: 250 WATT Double-Ended HQI Metal Halide Ballast, Energy Savers Unlimited. Are these magnetic, electronic, what? Are they good to reuse on a SE bulb or should I upgrade to better ballasts?

Won't work on SE bulbs in my opinion.Those ballasts run hot anyway.Get something like Icecap.

Thanks, that's what I've been looking at, the icecap. Just trying to figure out exactly what these coralife ballasts are, maybe use them in future endeavors etc.

The coralife ones are definately magnetic. You can generally tell by their heavy weight.

I have one and it weighs a ton.Doesn't get too hot(big heat sink) and stuck with it.Aquatinics has it specially made for my light.

Thanks! Does this mean I can only use these ballasts with 250W DE bulbs?
