Custom Tanks

whats a good place to get custom made tanks locally..?
was thinkin of a diff size tank for maybe end of summerish...
glasscages isnt that badly priced.. but freighting is 600$ alone.. ouch..

Depends on the size I guess. GC delivers for free to anywhere where they are doing a show no?

ANyhow,

1000 island aquarium on Utica Avenue in Brooklyn does custom tanks but the woman that owns it had an argument with me that this:

(Red Kelp) was a coral!!!
They also claim that every last mandarin in the store is eating mysis. I told them that if any two ate mysis I would buy every last one in the store. I left without any mandarins.

World Class Aquarium on Flatbush Avenue (same neck of the woods) makes custom tanks as well. They are much more experienced, during the 80s they made tanks for celebs and such. They also made the famous "Alka Seltzer Suit" tank that was on David Letterman.

and also as far as GC goes, if i made the tank using only 1 hand the silicone lines would be neater.

for the price your not paying for anything special.

Do you want a cheap tank or a quality tank a lot of these companies are not going to give a quality product.

Make sure whoever you get a tank made from is insured

Look at a tank they've made previously:
-check the corners and the silicone make sure they are neat and clean
-should have few to no air bubbles in the silicone between the attached pieces of glass
-make sure glass was cut clean sometime manufacturers will hide jagged edges with trimmings
-over bracing I hate over bracing a tank should be open on top for easy access

GC are definately not too expensive but aren't the best one either. I currently have one and I am fairly happy with it.
