I have had my 28 jbj for several years. It comes with stock 89 watts LEDs. They are not dimmable. I have great growth but never have had good color. Always felt like LEDs were too bright and always bleaches several corals.
So today I decided to disconnect some of the stock white LEDs in my hood. Tank looks 100% better. Not too white like before. Perfect color combo with the royal blues. Colors seem to pop more with less whites. I have lowered the LEDs to 63 watts.
I'm just wondering if it is okay to cut back lighting in tank. I know you have to raise LEDs intensity slowly but is it the same when lowering it. Does it have to be done a certain way. Is 63 watts okay for my size tank. It's 45 watts whites(15X3) and 18 watts blues(6X3)
With the lower led intensity. Could corals regain colors.
