Not for me. I have cycled all my tanks with it and it has always worked.

take some rock, sand , and filter sock from an established tank. When the established tank does a water change, use that water for new tank

the faster you go, the harder you chase the problems that come with not being patient.

I can provide you a large cup full of 8 year established sand and you're welcome to take one of my loose rocks which has a gazillion critters living in it.

Also, I'll be doing a 40g water change this weekend. You're welcome to that water to add bio-diversity to your system.
