Cycle ?

Hi all Im getting ready to start setting up the tanks in my new fish room http://hvreef.org/yabb/index.php?topic=8935.0 and I have a ?. If I take water and LR from my existing system and add new sand to the new tanks will these tanks cycle and if so do you think there will be a huge amonia spike or just a small one? Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

Yes they will still cycle. Probably not a huge spike but one none the less, mostly due to the new sand. Do you or a friendly local reefer have any older sand you can use to seed the new sand?

Went back and looked at your link..that's one sweet fishroom you're going to have there! Lucky that your wife suggested this or you might not have found that awful electric box..scary!
Can you post a few of the before/after shots here too?

also it all depends if you use live sand or dry sand, if you use dry sand you will have a have a big cycle

its live sand but who knows how live sand actually is in a bag

my opinion use the prodibio kit when you start it, noticed a huge difference when using it, helps to keep level down and when i was using it only had to clean glass bi-weekly
