Came home from work tday to a funny smell. Looked at the tank hmm lights not on...skimmers not on....nothing is on. Flipped the strip back on and it trips again. SO I start checking where the smell is coming from... find the one 400 watt PFO ballast is what is causing the breaker to pop. I took it out, replugged everything and it was all fine.
Took the ballast aside and looked in and it appears to have some melted plastic or something brown in the case and it smelled like that rubber burning smell but more spicy. Kinda burnt to smell it. Anyway...guess I need to email PFO. I bought the thing new from premium aquatics in like october but didnt get around to setting it up untill january. All my other PFO ballast never burned out or had any issues.....
