is it possible? just picked up some rock. it was given for free, about 60 pounds. it was moist and in garbage bags. no smell to it, a little green algae on it, not sure if it was live or not? brought it home and tossed in in my 55 thats running with only 1 yellow tang and a conty and already established live rock and sand. did i do the right thing? if its dead will it come back to life? how long?

no you should have put them in small garbage container with power head or airstone with same water from your mdt after 48 hr check if you had amonia or nitrite if you did you have to cycle water for 3 weeks untill nitrite is zero then add in to tank now your tank will go thru cycle again
