Deepblue plumbing kit bulkheads HELP!

He guys so i just got a 60g cube reef ready deep blue. Came with own plumbing kit. The 2 bulkheads come with 2 gaskets. I tried installing one gasket on the wet side only but i got a very slow drip. Then i installed both gasket one on wetside and one on dry side.

Drip has slowed much more. But still there.

Another issue is that i know i should hand tighten and then tighten a little more with wrench. But i feel like ive hand tighten and then have had to use the wrench for far more than what i would like to in order to get it to seal as much as it is now. The return is sealed completely but the drain still has a slow drip even with double gasket and way tightened with wrench.

Im afraid if i keep tightening i will crack glass, or bulkhead!.

should only use one gasket on wet side.
I think you should get a new bulk head. best to be safe with plumbing.

My suggestion is to replace their bulk head with life guard aquatics bulk heads. I dont recommend using the stock deep blue ones.


You only need one gasket on the wetside. They give you extra Just in case.

Yes, if its still dripping more than likely you have already cracked the bulkhead...a hairline crack is hard to notice and you'd always think it was the seal, but it could be leaking from a hairline crack in the threads. I've cracked my fair share of them to know.

The moment i touched the deepblue bulkheads i knew they wer cheap. They feel lighter and flimsier than the usual bulkheads ive used in past. And when trying to hand tighten you usually get stuck somewhere along the way before getting even half way through with the nut.

I felt the same they were def not up to par with perfecto.

They need to fix that.

Deep Blue stands are also not that good either.

one gasket on flange side. whether its dry or wet. the nut can distort gasket and the water can leak from the threads.

I didnt bother wiith deep blue stand. I got a marineland solid wood black stand made for cubes. Its perfect.

Edd its going to be a few days before i can recieve new bulkheads can are you saying if i remove the second gasket it could solve the issue for now. Changing bulkheads anyway but would like to stop drip short term.

the gasket has to be on flange side, even if flange is out side of tank. if flange is on outside and gasket and nut on inside, when you turn the nut it can twist gasket. it may seal from nut to glass but theirs nothing preventing water from following threads under nut to outside of tank. i have my flanges on outside with gasket and no leaks. i know its recommended gasket always on wet side but think about how i described it.

It doesn't mater what side you put the gasket on with these bulkheads, they are not a good product. Someone pointed out that the threads on this bulkhead make it impossible to keep from leaking. save yourself the headaches and get new ones

The rubber gasket im deepblue bulkhead is stiff and feels more like plastic. The gaskets im ised to are rubbery and bendable. Thanks for all help guys.
