Need some help here. If the dentist did a root canal procedure, and it may have caused some problems, is he required to fix it free of charge?

He said I may have to do some more work, or send me to another dentist to correct the problem.

But I think he caused it in the first place. Is he required to fix it?

Any help is appreciated.

I guess it would depend on the exact problem u are having. And if he messed it up in the first place I wouldnt want to go back to him. Root canals can be very painfull if they get infected after the procedure (trust me I know) especially if he didnt get all of the root, make sure u take the antibiotics otherwise u will be in for some serious throbing pain.

It really depends on a few factors - did he advise you of potential complications, including this one ? are you absolutely sure he caused the problem? did he cause the problem out of negligience ? no medical procedure is without its risks and not all of them are foreseable. some are more likely to happen than others but you have to accept this fact before agreeing to having a medical procedure. that being said, your provider - dentist, doctor or other - has to take all reasonable precautions to avoid complications but they cannot guarantee that there will be none.
