Vacuum the whole bed in stages each water change...you'll be surprised how much crap comes out. For a year I wasn't doing much sand cleaning till I read a large thread on RC about the practice and it makes a lot of sense. Num not going RO regurgitate the thread here, but I removed te sandbed from my fuge and proceeded to vacc the display in sections at each waterchange. Tank is much cleaner, phos and nitrates are down more than half what they were...

Same here.;) But I did my reading at "The Reef Tank". Only problem is that I can't get up under the rocks. But I don't have a DSB, I now have a SSB towards the front with a bit deeper towards the back, and sides.

But then again I don't have a jawfish for obvious reasons. I had a DSB about 10 years ago, won't do it again.
