Hi MR,

The other day I came across disbar anthias in my LFS and decided to purchase them. I purchased 3 at the time thinking the more the merrier because they are cool schooling fish. After a few days one died and the other two seem to be doing ok.. They do eat Mysis but that's about it. Do they do better in even pairs? Success rate? What do you feed? Etc. Looking for opinions from people who have had these types of fish before.

thank you

They... Anthias love cyclops. They also benefit from feeding several times a day (x2 at least).
They are a cool schooling fish do you have all females? Or a mix? If mixed then you will need at least 1 male and a few females to get the schooling going

I've been keeping them for years. IMO they are one of the easiest Anthias to keep eating most all meaty foods and pellets. I've have had schools of a dozen to only keeping one and they have done well, but they seem to do better in groups led by one dominate. male.

I really don't know how to tell if male or female to be honest.. They were all swimming together and seemed to be doing well but the one just perished while I was at work no idea why. I need to setup my auto feeder during the day

+1 mike ny. As for telling them apart the most dominate female will becomes the male. Watch them fish closely and over the next week or 2 one will change its color pattern, that one is the male.
