i have been reading this forum for awhile, and i think its great for people in the industry to be able to help each other with experiences. We're a new retail store in New Jersey, looking for advice and distributors, so i thought acclimation procedures would be a good way to start getting some topics started.

So i would like to hear how everybody acclimates their shipments. Im sure that there are some tricks, especially with transhipping. But also what you do with locally bought fish, fish from cross-country or around the world direct and transhipped. Mainly about saltwater fish, but also inverts, coral and freshwater.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks
Rich

immediately transfer the fish to a low pH volume of SW with every other parameter (temp, SG, etc) for 24-48 hrs for ammonia burn repair/avoidance-then drip to main system water

pretreat all clowns after this with formalin for 4-7 days for brooklynella

corals and anemones-no acclimation- my own experience both at import and retail level don't show any major advantage to acclimate inverts other than certain shrimp/crab species, which should be dripped

Knucklehead: we're in bergen county

Come on guys, there's been 75 views and only 1 real reply, i saw this forum as a way to discuss industry issues and this is something everybody has to do. i understand not telling people who you get your fish from, but i thought this topic would get this forum talking again.
