I am in the think tank stage of developing an easy water change system for my 75 gallon aquarium. I have a 30 gallon sump in the stand. THe main tank is drilled in each top corner and has a 90 degree elbow and strainer angled towards each other a bit for the right water level. the tank sits on a wall that is empty on the other side (under staircase).

I have a floor 3 inches from the rear right of the tank stand. I am thinking of eliminating the right corner overflow and bending the 90 degree elbow straight up and down. I would have to curve the left side lower to compensate for the water level change.

Behind the wall i would have 2 45 gallon brut containers (ro/saltwater) plumbed with a return to the display tank.

So in theory i hit a switch, the pump pushed saltwater to the main tank the water level rises, hits the right side overflow that drains directly into the floor.......

It sound easy, maybe a little ghetto.... just looking for some input...

I am not sure about that only for the reason that the water you are pumping in may actually just mix with the water in the tank and then just get pumped right out. Yes you would lose old water, but you will not get a true "30 gallon" change. Since you will lose good water.

I agree thirty.....I decided to keep the overflows and drill a hole in the top last chamber of my sump.....As i add water to the display, the water the sump will fill and drain out of the bulkhead in the last chamber located at the top. I will still lose good water...... but i think this way may be the least waste.....

thoughts?
