just wondering before i buy a clean up crew. ive also noticed some asternia which i like but wonder if they scratch. also what is best type of cloth to clean off salt and water deposits on acrylic. How can i tell if a scratch is inside or outside the acrylic?

I think snails could damage acrylic or glass. If they are moving and their shell rubs against glass/acrylic(when glass meets at a 90 degree angle to the surface they are moving on), they could scratch it...but this is just my opinion, and has never been looked into

IME you are good as far as clean up crews go with acrylic, just avoid razor blades, very coarse cleaners (fine velcro has been fine on my tank) and no urchins whatsoever. Acrylic safe cleaning spray and/or presoaked wipes work well. I use fresh water/paper towels only near the top of the tank/on the hood to avoid contamination.
