I never saw these opened in such a way...where they kind of point down...

Is there something I should be looking for or is it normal?

I just never noticed them do that. Last night they were as usual.

The frogspawn is actually about 6" or so away edge to edge. The pic is at a bad angle to see that.

Mine do that from time to time during the dawn/dusk actinics. Normal behaviour IMO.

Thanks for the response. I never noticed it before, and wanted to make sure there isnt something I should be wary of.

Snowmansnow may be right. Sometimes those tenticles can reach farther than you think(or see at night).


I doubt it is anything. However, if they keep doing it, I would suspect possible chemical warfare. Posing like that could br the zoo's defense posture.

It is possible, I will watch for it. At night, the frog recedes rather quickly as do the zoo's...DOn't think it would happen then.

The tenticles I have seen so far of the frogspawn has been to the opposite direction, into the flow more.

Thank you both for the advice though, I will pay a bit of attention for the next few days and see if they are fighting.
