Dosing advice

I just started getting into coral and I want to dose my Tank correctly ... (Cal, Alk, Mag, Iodi, Stron, Phyto, Trace Elements ) I have a 120 G tank with not much coral and would like to know how much and how often should I be dosing ... And is there any other suplement or stuff that I should go buy ...

Before you even give any advice, I want to say THANKS you guys have been very helpful :tongueani ...

The best way to determine what needs to be dosed, and how often, is by testing the supplements over time and seeing how quicklly your tank is using it. Then you can dose accordingly.

Here is a reef chemistry calculator that may help determine how much of a supplement you should dose to reach the desired level. Please note that you should always read the dosing instructions on the supplements before you follow the dosing instructions from the calculator.

I dose ESV alk, cal, and mag. I find it easy, affordable, and produces accurate results.

if you don't test for it, don't dose it. that's about all the advice i can give you

I wasnt aware of all the test kits available ... Thanks for the advice I guess I'll be going to the lfs ...

go slow man. until you are pretty heavily stocked with hard corals you will probably be fine with regular water changes...you only need to start dosing when you notice that your calcium is dropping faster than your water changes will keep up with. that being said, i don't know many people who dose anything other than 2 part, kalk, and a few do mag...

if you are just starting out with corals, i would not recommend on dosing anything. it's just throwing your money into the water. stock up your tank first then check to see what it's lacking, the most common ones are cal, alk, and mg, which you can buy from bulkreefsuppy for cheap
